Removing popcorn in Orlando

If you are reading this then you have decided that it is probably time to remove your popcorn ceilings. We really do not blame you for doing that, since popcorn falls down over time and becomes dirty. A few things you should know before the process starts is that popcorn may contain asbestos if your home was built in the 70’s and if the ceilings were also painted, then lead paint can also be a factor. With that said, this website is made for the homeowner so they can see all of our videos and pictures that we will start taking of various popcorn removal projects in Orlando. We would love to hear from you after we have removed your popcorn, so please post a positive thought!

Ken’s Apopka Removal and Paint

We just finished a painted popcorn ceiling removal with knockdown texture and paint in the Apopka, Fl area and everything went very well.  The project was completed on time and we just had to do a few touch ups for final homeowner inspection.  Ken’s ceiling was painted popcorn and it came off fairly easy in most spots, so don’t think that just because a ceiling is painted that it will be impossible to remove.  We simply wet the ceiling and let it soak and checked the joints for any touch ups needed.  Check back on this post soon as we will be posting a video of the masking and removal process.

Bid Placed in Apopka area

I went to get some measurements today for a small project in the Apopka area off of Welch Rd.  It is a 300sq/ft vaulted ceiling that is painted white, and divided by two walls and a closet that is open spaced.  These jobs always make things a little more difficult as we have to use more plastic then is necessary.  Vaults are never easy because they can crack all the way up at the top.  Hopefully we get this project.  Alot of companies don’t like to even touch small projects, but we do not mind them in the least.

Removing Dry Popcorn

We had the opportunity the other day to remove some popcorn in the Lake Mary area by dryscraping.  This was a vaulted ceiling about 11 feet tall and our builder asked us the easiest way to do it.   I typically wet scrape popcorn but this time we scraped it dry and sprayed a thick coat of knockdown texture on top of it.  It turned out very good and everyone was satisfied.

Texturing Over a Removal

I dryscraped a small closet in house in Longwood.  The catch was that the popcorn had already been removed by a different contractor and we thought it was never sprayed.  I found out differently once i had to scrape some left over popcorn from some of the fixtures that were taken down so i could spray, that the popcorn was actually dry scraped and painted over.  I put a very thick coat of texture on this since that is the best way to achieve a great look and to fill all the voids from a dry scrape and the homeowner was very satisfied.  He also called me a week later asking if i knew anyone that could install windows.  He trusted my work and figured anyone i knew would do the same quality.

Non Painted Popcorn

We took down some non painted popcorn over the weekend in a home for one of our builders,  then applied an orange peel texture over the ceilings. it is rare to do this but we did and it looks just fine.  There was a hard section to do as the hallway led directly into a soffit that was in the kitchen.  There was some trouble trying to get the tape to stick but we managed.
